"My works explore personal glimpses into nostalgia and kinship tiessurrounding my Canadian-Ukrainian identity. By observing collected artifactsranging from embroidered tapestries to stamps, I am able to visualize theinterconnectedness between the two spaces I find to be familiar. The observationprocess is in constant conversation with themes of immigration, family ties, andtradition, as such values face instability amidst the current Russian-Ukrainianwar. Including tiny details and small objects highlights the individualsignificance of each pattern, thread, and/or decoration as aninter-generational stamp of culture. In response to the present turmoil, mycurrent body of work includes visualizations of politically charged objects andsymbols, contrasting political aggression with visualizations of Ukrainian independence"
